As we embark on a new year I wanted to set 5 goals for myself in 2024. Nothing too crazy by any means but definitely ambitious.
I want to improve my health, take on creative projects, and preserve a bit of history. See, nothing insane.
There are tons of lists out there with hundreds of New Year’s goals, but who has the patience to read through all of those? Not me! That’s why I made this list of 5 ideas/things I’ve been wanting to do for a while, and I hope it inspires you to make some 2024 goals for yourself!
5 Ideas for Goals in 2024
This is by no means a comprehensive list of all my goals for this year. One not listed is actually building this blog! I know, so exciting!
But enough about that, let’s dive in.
- Build a Healthier Lifestyle
- Finish House Renovations
- Create and Sustain Cleaning Habits
- Track Crochet Projects
- Create a Family Cookbook
1. Build a Healthier Lifestyle
Easier said than done, but it’s attainable. Initiating a healthy lifestyle seems daunting and thinking of all the things to improve upon is exhausting, especially when you have ADHD. So together we will explore health articles, yummy recipes, try new exercises, and discuss mental health.
Other ideas: cooking at home more, adding an additional vegetable to your diet, walking more, stretching in the morning, praying or meditating, etc.
2. Finish House Renovations
When my husband and I moved into our house it was slowly being renovated by the owner. Nobody had lived in the home for roughly 8 years, so you can imagine how dirty it was. Since settling in we have completely renovated a hall bathroom and replaced the kitchen floor.
Our next projects are refinishing a table and chairs, remodeling the primary bathroom, setting up a workshop in the garage, and replacing the floor in our basement.
Other ideas: painting a room, updating drawer and cabinet handles, hanging photos or art, adding crown molding, painting cabinets, etc.
3. Create and Sustain Cleaning Habits
If you’re anything like me then you also struggle with keeping a cleaning schedule. Maybe not even a schedule at all but just cleaning! Cleaning can be hard when you don’t know where to start or even what to do. As someone with ADHD, it’s especially difficult to keep up with tasks that don’t seem to end like laundry.
Lucky for you, I have found something that helps me stay on track, a daily cleaning schedule that incorporates monthly and yearly tasks. I’ll share this soon!
Other ideas: spend 10 minutes tidying up once a day, put together a cleaning caddy, and don’t put it down-put it away.
4. Track Crochet Projects
I have always wanted to share crochet projects with others and track my progress with some form of accountability, but none of my close friends crochet so I have a lot of unfinished projects. And 2024 is the year I finish my unfinished projects!
The project count as of January 23rd is 3 blankets to finish and 1 to start and finish. Not to mention a knit hat and whatever else looks fun!
Other ideas: try a new hobby you’ve been itching to do, pick up an old hobby, find something fun to do outside, etc.
5. Create a Family Cookbook
My family loves to cook, and some of my favorite recipes have been passed down through generations. I also love thrifting old church cookbooks. So I want to compile all of my and my family’s favorites into a book and with each addition to the cookbook, I will make and share the process with you!
I won’t make any promises about how big the dessert section will be!
Other ideas: frame family recipes, digitize family photos, create a photo album, etc.
…
I hope these goals and other ideas inspire you to do something special this year. Whether it be eating better, finishing projects that were started way too long ago, starting new habits to be more productive, or even something that you’ve always wanted to do but never made time for.
We have an entire year to do whatever we want.
Come along with me as we begin a new year of growth!
